It takes a certain amount of guts — or chutzpah — to go on national television and lecture someone about how to turn their life around, but that’s what Brit Hume did yesterday to Tiger Woods on Fox News.
…Whether he can recover as a person depends on his faith. He’s said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So my message to Tiger would be, “Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.”
I suspect that Mr. Hume is going to find out a great deal about Buddhism in the next few days. I also think that when the fundamentalists start complaining again that there is an “anti-Christian” prejudice in this country (meaning some people are mocking them and/or expressing disgust at them), we can point to this pompous, arrogant and patronizing missive as the perfect example of why a lot of people don’t particularly care for their holier-than-thou attitude.
