Not Mutually Exclusive

White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser John Brennan, who has worked in the last five administrations (which includes Republicans), had this to say about former Vice President Dick Cheney’s recent comments on President Obama’s approach to dealing with terrorism:

It’s disappointing to me that either the vice president or others have willfully mischaracterized President Obama’s position and actions or they’re just ignorant of the facts. I think in either case, it doesn’t speak well to sort of the reasons why they sort of went out and said these things.

The only quibble I would have with Mr. Brennan is that he is being charitable by giving Mr. Cheney the option of willfully mischaracterizing or being ignorant of the facts. Given his record, I say it’s both.
