State Sen. Ted Deutch (D) easily won the special election in Boca Raton to serve the remainder of Robert Wexler’s term. Wexler resigned last year to take a job with a think tank.
This was the first election for a congressional seat after the passage of the healthcare bill, and Deutch’s opponent, Republican Ed Lynch, campaigned on a slogan of “Take our country back” and other teabaggerisms. Deutch won 62% to 35%.
