Warm Springs

Sixty-five years ago today, President Franklin D. Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage while at his retreat in Warm Springs, Georgia.

If you’re of a certain age, you’ll remember where you were when you heard that news flash on that late afternoon, just as later generations remember November 22, 1963 or September 11, 2001.

I think it is safe to say that had Franklin Roosevelt not been president during the Great Depression and World War II, this would be a much different — and darker — world.
