The arrival of summer brings back memories of summers past… and summer jobs.
What was your first summer job?
In the summer of 1970, at the age of seventeen, I spent a couple of months working on a dairy farm outside Plainfield, Vermont, doing everything from milking cows, mucking out the stalls, bailing hay, and just about everything else you do on a farm. I received no pay but got room and board and learned a lot about bovine husbandry and farm implements. I stuck at it until August and then went to Michigan where I ended up in a summer stock production of My Daughter, Your Son at the Cherry County Playhouse in Traverse City. The star of the show was Vivian Vance.
