I paid $2.69 at my usual spot in my part of town; the Marathon station on the corner of SW 168th Street and Old Cutler Road. That’s about the same as I paid last week, and down from the $2.75 from the middle of June. Apparently the gusher in the Gulf has had little effect on the price of oil.
So what are you paying for gas in your area? Has it gone up or down recently?
Even though gas prices are stable for now, people are still skittish about it. I know some friends who have put off a trip to Colorado by car this summer and decided to go by train. Going from Miami to Denver, though, on the train is not a straight shot. They will go to New York, then west across Pennsylvania through Ohio and Indiana to Chicago and then catch the California Zephyr. They’re making the trip more the event than the actual destination. If I had the time and a direct line to my destination, I would consider train travel on my next trip to Toledo just for the adventure.
