John Boehner doesn’t need to listen to experts or economists to tell him about the economy.
This is the same mindset that talks about getting rid of “career politicians” and sending amateurs to Congress to “shake things up.” They make it sound like running the country is some kind of improv act and anybody can do it. Yeah, we tried that, remember?
Steve Benen nails it.
There’s just no seriousness here. Boehner comes to the debate with all the sophistication of a drunk guy yelling at the TV from the end of a bar. He hasn’t thought any of this through, and seems prepared to argue that he shouldn’t think things though because forethought is part of “the whole Washington mindset.”
I just think Mr. Boehner has been out in the sun too long.
