The much-anticipated Pentagon report on the study of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is officially out, and the results are as has been leaked and reported: allowing gay and lesbian soldiers to serve and not hide the fact that they are gay or lesbian would have little to no impact on the effectiveness of the military and an overwhelming majority of those surveyed say they don’t care whether or not their fellow soldiers are gay or lesbian. So there.
Now the only thing standing between the repeal of this odious law is the sniveling bigotry of John McCain and the rest of the ignorant tightasses who didn’t get the report they wanted: the one that said that it is the stated goal of the Radical Homosexual Agenda to turn every Army barracks into a seething nest of designer uniforms and wild orgies.
Hey, if they’d done this forty years ago, I might not have been a Conscientious Objector.
PS: Josh Marshall at TPM points out that Sen. McCain is wrong when he says that Secretary of Defense Robert Gates never served in the military and “has had no background or experience in the military whatsoever.” So aside from being a grasping-at-straws bigot, he’s got his facts wrong. What a surprise.
