It’s June 1, which makes it the official start of the North Atlantic hurricane season. It runs from now until the end of November, peaking in mid-September.
So far so good… Well, there is this little disturbance out there in the Atlantic, but that’s it.
Florida’s been lucky; the last major tropical event here in Miami-Dade was Hurricane Wilma in 2005. The National Hurricane Center is predicting a busier than normal season, but we hear that a lot. Better to be cautious, I suppose.
