They had heat warnings out here in Miami yesterday: they predicted a record-breaking temperature of the low 90’s.
That’s ten degrees cooler than it was in places in the Midwest, and even cooler than some places here in Florida. Even in places you normally associate with frigid weather, such as Toronto, Ontario, are bracing for killer heat. Of course, up there they use the Celsius scale, so even a high of 38C, which translates to 100F, sounds cool.
It’s our proximity to the ocean and the sea breezes that help, but it just never gets as hot here in Miami as it does in other places in the South.
On the other hand, we do have high humidity, and when it’s 86 it feels like 100. That’s what takes it out of you. Even in the shade, walking a block down the street makes you break a sweat.
