Lucille Ball was born 100 years ago today.
In 1970 I was in a play at the Cherry County Playhouse in Traverse City with Vivian Vance. We were in her suite running lines when the phone rang. She talked for a moment, then said to the person on the phone, “Would you like to talk to one of my co-stars?” It was Lucille Ball. I have no idea what I said to her or what we talked about, but I’ll never forget that moment.
