Seemingly Trivial

From the Washington Post:

President Obama announced Wednesday his intention to lay out a new jobs plan in a speech to Congress next week that strategists hope will set a new tone for his tenure.

But the announcement provoked an instant confrontation with Republicans over the seemingly trivial question of timing, resolved only when the White House agreed late Wednesday to delay the speech by one day, to Sept. 8.

This back-and-forth about President Obama’s job speech to Congress next week is so high school. The fact that the Very Serious People are all twitterpated about it, as opposed to what the president will actually propose to do about the economy and how to get the jobs going, means that the public pissing match between Speaker Boehner and the White House will be what we’re told is the Most Important Thing.
