Mitt Romney gave Barack Obama all sorts of shit for saying that people depend on other people to accomplish things in life like starting a business or achieving a goal, as if that’s some socialist anti-rugged-individual propaganda. Look what he was saying in 2002:
You Olympians, however, know you didn’t get here solely on your own power. For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We’ve already cheered the Olympians, let’s also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities.
Of course, back then Mitt Romney was also pro-choice, pro-gay rights, and would support the individual mandate when it came to healthcare reform.
