A Little Night Music

Hallelujah, Baby! won the Tony in 1968 for Best Musical.  I saw it in September 1967 on my way to St. George’s, and I had the original cast album until it was stolen in 1972.  I found the CD in 1992 and still love the music.  This is from the Tony Awards in 1968 with Leslie Uggams, Lillian Hayman, and Robert Hooks recreating one of the songs from the show… and introduced by Peter Ustinov.

One bark on “A Little Night Music

  1. When I was a kid, I loved musicals. I think I learned everything I know about songwriting from musicals–especially Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin). I don’t really like recent Broadway musicals, and I don’t think it’s me. My theory is that Andrew Lloyd Webber poisoned the art form with his dictum: “Only one tuneful song per show!”
