I had a nice visit with my friends Trish and Christopher (and Kayla, too, the furry four-legged greeter) at their place in Key Largo. We relaxed, watched a movie or two (I’d never seen The Prince of Tides) and grilled up some burgers. All in all a great time to unwind.
I came back early this morning in order to get ready for other stuff that needs to get done while I have the time and in order to go shopping for tonight’s Seder at the Shapiros along with friends and family. There is something about honoring a faith tradition in the home and in a way that includes people from other faiths and practices that makes the celebration more than a commemoration of history and belief.
I’m also getting well into the writing mode. My as-yet unfinished and untitled opus (not Bobby Cramer) is going along well enough that I’m taking little sections to the writer’s group that I recently joined. And I’m also in the drafting stage of my paper for the William Inge Theatre Festival’s scholars conference. It’s amazing that I have any time to go to work.
Anyway, I’ll be checking in a little later and watching with anticipation the run-up to the Supreme Court hearings tomorrow and Wednesday on Prop 8 and DOMA. Here’s hoping.
