A Little Night Music

I had something else picked out for tonight, but the news from Boston made me think of this piece; something to hold the people of Boston in the Light.

    • Is that wish to hold them in the Light a Quaker tradition?

Yes. It is similar to “I pray for them,” but most Quakers speak of an inner light — spirit, if you will — and it doesn’t have an other-worldly connotation that might make some people uncomfortable if prayer or an appeal to God isn’t for them. Being pretty much an atheist (yes, there are atheist Quakers), when I hold someone in the Light, I’m doing my best to think of how I can help them materially and spiritually.
