Happy Earth Day

The Google Doodle today notes that we all live on this planet together.

Meanwhile, we remember that the Deepwater Horizon oil spill started three years ago and we’re still cleaning it up with chemicals that are still toxic, our fertilizer can still blow us to smithereens, and climate change is still happening despite what some crack-pot Jesus-shouter congressman from Texas thinks about Noah and the flood.

It’s still snowing up in Michigan and they’re still bracing for floods in the Midwest.

  1. No matter how much we talk about this among ourselves – and we do, a lot – most Americans don’t give a damn. The climate change deniers hold fast to their misguided claims which are partly born from their inability or unwillingness to act in ways other than how they/we have for generations to the beginning of modern time. It’s called being “conservative”. Irony was never their strong suit.

  2. 43 years and we haven’t done much to protect our home. It’s almost too late to stop the process now. I’ve read that in 50 years, the planet will be nearly uninhabitable. What a legacy…
