Ignorance is Bliss

A recent poll finds that a segment of the electorate thinks that Benghazi! is the Worst Scandal Ever.  Really?  Okay.  As Charlie Pierce finds, that’s not the best part.

One interesting thing about the voters who think Benghazi is the biggest political scandal in American history is that 39% of them don’t actually know where it is. 10% think it’s in Egypt, 9% in Iran, 6% in Cuba, 5% in Syria, 4% in Iraq, and 1% each in North Korea and Liberia with 4% not willing to venture a guess.

I knew the Castro brothers had something to do with it.

3 barks and woofs on “Ignorance is Bliss

  1. I knew the Castro brothers had something to do with it.

    Don’t they make movies?

I don’t think I need to tell you that the average US citizen is woefully uneducated (in geography, too).

  2. I excelled in the earth sciences; geology, geography and geometry. However, I wasn’t sure where Dajeistan was after the marathon bombings. I do now. It is sad that attention is not given in schools about geography. I started testing my grandson on the state capitals when he was 6. He even knows that the capital of Kentucky is not Louisville; I bet there are a lot of Kentuckians don’t know what their capital is.
