Worst Person Singular

The award goes to Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) for saying that disaster relief for his own state is contingent upon budget cuts somewhere else.

“That’s always been his position [to offset disaster aid],” a spokesman told the Huffington Post Monday night. “He supported offsets to the bill funding the OKC bombing recovery effort.”

Being consistent doesn’t always make you a better person.  It just makes you an asshole who can be counted on to always do the wrong thing.

5 barks and woofs on “Worst Person Singular

  1. Coburn at least wants the aid. Cantor et al campaigned vigorously against help for Virginia after Hurricane Sandy because of the costs. I can understand Texans not wanting to pay for Virginians’ assistance, but Virginians not wanting assistance for their own constituents is just beyond the pale.

And all because Debt, or Taxes, or something.

  2. Both Oklahoma Senators have repeatedly refused to support disaster aid and now they’re in an uncomfortable position of requesting it. So in line with the G.H.W Bush Thousand Points of Light theory they must assume the Boy Scouts and the local churches will help out – if they’re not flattened along with the rest of the town.

  3. At least he is no longer practicing medicine! If I’m not mistaken he’s the guy who told a questioner that if he became seriously ill and didn’t have insurance or private wealth then his option was to pray. What a guy!

  4. BTW, what do you want to bet that Oklahoma returns him to office in 2016 if he changes his mind about retiring?
