On This Date

July 16, 1969.  Do you remember?

By the way, your average smartphone has more computer power than all the machines put together that NASA had working for them at Cape Canaveral in 1969.  And yet we’ve never gotten our footprints beyond the moon.

4 barks and woofs on “On This Date

  1. I kinda remember. But if we had a TV then, and we were watching, then we were watching BBC, and the launch wasn’t especially timed to be seen during GMT hours.

  2. I sat in the waiting room waiting for daughter #1. I have been dad now 44 yrs. Happy Birthday Noelle.

  3. I remember! And I distinctly remember watching the landing in our basement on a 19″ Zenith B&W teevee. I remember being alone but I cannot recall if that was by choice or if nobody else was interested… Looking at the moon and remembering 1969 still gives me chills – and also makes me kinda sad that we haven’t been there since ’72. But at least we have a couple of RC cars on Mars!
