A lily-white suburb of Dayton, Ohio refuses to build bus stops in the town because black people ride buses.
What a country.

This is so true. There is a major university and a huge shopping mall that you cannot get to on the bus. It is ridiculous and there is no good reason for it.
BART has the crazy map it does because San Mateo County threw the same temper tantrum – in the 1950s and 1960s. They’re closing the loop now – at about 50x the cost of the original proposal.
Here in NoVA there’s a whole mess of “Don’t METRO Loudoun” signage up in places as obviously affected (not!) as Hillsboro and Purcellville (which will never EVER see a train). You’d think the masses from PG County were just salivating to get into all those klassic kountry enklaves. Equally amazing how many volk fled to West Virginia, and now make the drive from lily-white Harper’s Ferry and Charles Town to the Vienna and West Falls Church Metro stations so they can take the hated train to work.
I grew up 40 mins. drive from Beavercreek. I went to Wright State and my ex lived just over the hill from there. I never ever noticed any racism in the area in my 54 yrs. around there. Now Louis Gegner in Yellow Springs couldn’t cut hair for black people started the sit ins of the 60’s and west Dayton is mostly black, but I just never noticed a problem; I am shocked.
Oh, Mike there is a problem. The Fairfield Commons Mall and the area around it, including WSU, has no bus service at all. If you don’t have a car you don’t work there despite the fact that there are jobs there that support WPAFB and WSU. I live here. I know. Racism is alive and well in the Miami Valley although there has been progress. I live in a south suburb and I know 2 houses in my area that fly the Stars and Bars.
