When the Miami Marlins built their new baseball park on the site of the old Orange Bowl, a friend who knew my love for the game asked me when I would go see a game there. Well, because of the shenanigans involved in financing the stadium and the questionable deals involved — not to mention the fact that the Marlins are one of the least-liked teams in baseball — I said I wouldn’t go until the Detroit Tigers played there.
Well, thanks to interleague play and a touch of karma, the Tigers have a three-game series next weekend, and thanks to my parents, I’m going to next Saturday’s game.
Thanks Mom and Dad. We’ll have a great time.
