Jeb Bush Blows It for 2016

The former Florida governor has some advice for his fellow Republicans.

During an interview for “This Week,” former Republican Florida Gov. Jeb Bush encouraged the GOP to come up with an alternative and show some restraint if their aim was to repeal the president’s signature healthcare law.

“I think the best way to repeal Obamacare is to have an alternative; we never hear the alternative…we could do this in a much lower cost with improved quality based on our principles, free market principles…and two, show how Obamacare, flawed to its core, doesn’t work,” Bush said.

“So have a little bit of self-restraint. It might actually be a politically — a better approach to see the massive dysfunction,” he said, after being asked by ABC’s Jonathan Karl what his message would be for Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who is vowing to do everything he can to repeal Obamacare.

Telling the current crop of Republicans to “have a little bit of self-restraint” is like asking a sugar-bombed eight year old to sit quietly and read The Odyssey, so if Mr. Bush has any thoughts about running for president in 2016, this kind of advice isn’t going to go over too well with the gang that wants to secede and impeach because Bo the dog took a crap on the South Lawn.

3 barks and woofs on “Jeb Bush Blows It for 2016

  1. Wasn’t this Heritage’s complaint back in 1988? Ah, yes, it was so much easier to be a GOP frontrunner when all your best lines weren’t getting adopted by the Kenyan IslamoFascoSoshulist Usurper.

Seriously. You want an alternative, Mr. Bush? Your own people presented something 99%-compatible with the ACA in a series of white papers and books from 1998 to 1994; the Congress your father’s successor faced presented a nearly identical proposal as counter to his proposed single-payer system; and every one of your peers argued for what amounts to the exact same thing as the dreaded Obamacare – right up until the time BHO presented his plan.

I LOLd. BRILLIANT. Especially when the only self-restraint the Teahad seems able to advocate is for all those Other people when they want jobs and healthcare and equal pay and freedom from assault and respect and marriages and stuff. Self-restraint and Freedom™ don’t coexist in their world, apparently because Shut Up. One gets the idea that the tea in their party starts out Long Island Iced.

  2. Not Dubya™ Bush knows better, or at least he should. The ACA is about as free market as the so-called free market could stand. The insurance CEOs kept out of the public discussions for a reason. Even the money-grubbing medical equipment industry co-operated and kept quiet ( that is until their business model fell apart in the past few months) because they saw what a windfall it was going to be for them.

  3. I doubt that Jeb understands the apocalyptic mindset of people who, if they don’t believe Obama is the Antichrist, would seriously entertain the idea.
