The current Congress is on their way to setting a record for doing nothing.
There’s plenty of reasons for that but the largest is that House Republicans have been riven by factionalism that, when combined with Democrats unwilling to cross the aisle to lend support for the GOP’s agenda has made passing anything extremely difficult.
Why, yes, it is the Democrats’ fault for not working with the GOP, just like it’s the kids’ fault for losing the baseball after it bounced into the yard with the mean dog.
The joke is that as long as Congress isn’t doing anything, it can’t hurt us. But when you think of all the things that they could be doing such as immigration reform, restoring unemployment benefits, raising the minimum wage, keeping funding for food stamps, and seriously seeking peace with other countries, not doing something doesn’t sound so funny.
