Next week’s The New Yorker cover by Barry Blitt.
That’s a zinger!
A RWer tried to compare the Christie stuff to Ted Kennedy’s bridge incident, saying that Kennedy didn’t have all this criticism, etc. The two incidents are NOT the same thing! Sheesh, just because they both involve a bridge? Typical RW “thinking”.
Ted Kennedy didn’t have all this criticism? Whoever said that was not alive in 1969. It basically ended Ted’s political career, and the only reason he was able to keep his seat and try to run for president in 1980 was because he was a Kennedy. Anyone else would have been gone the next week. (It did, however, embolden lesser lights — i.e. Newt Gingrich — to think they could engineer a comeback. How’d that work out?)
And you’re right: the two incidents have nothing in common. But that never stopped them from grasping at a straw.
Have to share something hilarious and clever. Go to http://www.dependablerenegade.com and see the post titled “I’m Laffin'”. Absolutely perfect!
