Another former Christie staffer pleads the Fifth.
Gov. Chris Christie’s (R-NJ) former deputy chief of staff, Bridget Kelly, said through her lawyer Monday evening that she will invoke her 5th Amendment right not to testify before a state legislative panel. She is also refusing to turn over documents subpoenaed by the panel, according to the Bergen Record.
Kelly’s attorney, Michael Critchley, Sr., told the panel that the requested information “directly overlaps with a parallel federal grand jury investigation” while also invoking Kelly’s general right to personal privacy.
Meanwhile, another staffer under subpoena has resigned.
An aide to Chris Christie who was subpoenaed in the investigation of the George Washington Bridge scandal resigned on Friday, according to media reports.
In a statement published by NBC late Sunday, Christina Genovese Renna said the resignation “reflects a decision I have been considering since shortly after the election.”
While it’s really a stretch to blame all of this on the liberal media, Gov. Christie is still shaking that rock.
I’ll be really impressed if he’s is still in office by Easter.
