More Now Than Ever

Amazing poll results:

Half of all Americans believe that gay men and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll in which a large majority also said businesses should not be able to deny serving gays for religious reasons.

Fifty percent say the U.S. Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection gives gays the right to marry, while 41 percent say it does not.

Beyond the constitutional questions, a record-high 59 percent say they support same-sex marriage, while 34 percent are opposed, the widest margin tracked in Post-ABC polling.

Not that a basic civil right such as equal protection ever needed the support of a majority of the voters, it is encouraging to have it.  Even better will be the fun in watching the haters and the homophobes try to explain why a majority of the public won’t send them any more more money.

3 barks and woofs on “More Now Than Ever

  1. I saw a poll that showed most of the teahadists believe ALL Americans are against same sex marriage. That’s what happens when your only “news” source is Fox.

    • I was sitting behind one of those loud-mouthed idiots in a restaurant last night. On and on about how pro-gay propaganda is “shoving this stuff” in our faces and how abortion is murder (“how would you feel if I just shot you, same thing you’re doing to that baby when you murder it”) She apparently thought that everyone in the room agreed with her nonsense. One of the most unpleasant meals in recent history.

      • Ugh! Sometimes people are just so ignorant you wonder how they manage to navigate the world. If you don’t like gay people okay. They aren’t shoving anything in your face, they simply want equal rights. Get over it. I happen to believe that a woman should have the ability to decide what she is going to do with her own body. Besides, I remember before Roe V Wade. Desperate women did desperate things. It wasn’t pretty.
