Your Moment of D’oh

Republicans never fail to entertain.

They voted overwhelmingly Thursday to bar the Energy Department from blocking approval of offshore-drilling permits. But there’s just one thing: The Energy Department doesn’t regulate drilling. The Interior Department does.

The prohibition on the Energy Department regulating something that it doesn’t regulate came came via Republican Rep. Steve Stockman’s amendment to a wider department spending bill, which also passed Thursday.

Maybe we’re better off with Congress doing nothing.

4 barks and woofs on “Your Moment of D’oh

  1. On the one hand, when a segment of the electorate is committed to sending people into government who insist government is the problem – which does make one wonder why they’re taking the job if their goal is to eliminate it – this kind of ignorance is to be expected: Big Gubmint doesn’t work, so there’s no reason to learn more about it.

On the other hand, there’s only so much damage they can do if they send their ‘cease and desist’ requirements to departments that aren’t engaged in the Big-Gubmint-not-working things they despise.

  2. I am convinced that this is the perfect example that we have raised and continue raising generations of ignorant, non-thinking individuals. Unbelievable!
