Life’s Little Lessons

Elizabeth Lauten, a staffer for some GOP congressperson from Tennessee, needs to learn that if you pick a fight with teenage girls, you’re going to lose.

Take it from a recovering middle school English teacher: don’t even start.  Even if you’re right — and in this case you are not — you’re going to come across as both a bully and a prig, and you’ll be the one heaped with scorn, not the girls.

When you apologize, do the whole thing, not just the “if I offended” half-assed non-apology.  While you’re at it, apologize to the kids’ parents for hinting that they’re anti-American and blah.

Now go to your room.

6 barks and woofs on “Life’s Little Lessons

  1. All I can say is that she shouldn’t pick on kids. The kids were probably less than thrilled to go to the “Pardoning of the Turkey” ceremony. Can you blame them?

    • Kids be BLEEPed – she USED the two girls to go after POTUS. And then (once the Twitter commenters stopped saying she should apologize and started saying that her boss was going to hear about what a BLEEP she was) she apologized “if what she said about the First Daughters offended anyone” – i.e. an apology not TO the girls but to OTHER UNNAMMED PERSONS who might have been [gasp] upset by her wingnuttery, and didn’t even bother to apologize to the girls’ parents AT ALL. All this from a GOP congresscritter’s DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS. NONE of this was a mistake – outside underestimating the backlash.

FYI (for those who haven’t been keeping track) she resigned earlier today. She’s gone: Good (in my best Bette).

  2. The hatred towards this family is unbelievable. Next in line for this kind of stupidity is non-other than their dog. So far he has remained unscathed by the insults.
