Of Course They Defend Him

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) spoke to a white supremacist convention in 2002.  When the news leaked out, he went through the ritual of saying it was due to poor staffing, then added that when he did it he didn’t know who he was talking to and that back then when he was just a state representative in Louisiana, he’d talk to any group that would listen.

So we’ve established that he knows how to point the finger of blame, he doesn’t do any research into the groups who invite him to speak, and that he’ll basically whore himself out to anyone who will give him a free meal and cover his travel.

Well, he sounds like a perfectly normal Republican leader to me.  Why shouldn’t John Boehner and the minions defend him?  They’d do the same thing if it was them, and then remind us that Barack Obama once shook hands with William Ayers and Robert Byrd belonged to the Klan in the 1950’s.
