Carly Fiorina goes all Dick Cheney for waterboarding, claiming “it kept our nation safe.”
“I believe that all of the evidence is very clear — that waterboarding was used in a very small handful of cases [and] was supervised by medical personnel in every one of those cases,” Fiorina told Yahoo News. “And I also believe that waterboarding was used when there was no other way to get information that was necessary.”
Well, for one thing, states use “medical supervision” when they execute people. But more importantly, the people who actually know about interrogation, not just the people who get off on the idea of it, say that “extreme interrogation” doesn’t actually yield any more information than the non-S & M methods, and in fact may lead to false statements just to get out from being tortured.
Meanwhile, listening to her and the rest of the GOP field could be considered torture.
