Biden Not Running

Vice President Joe Biden says he’s not running.

“I believe we’re out of time. The time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination,” he announced from the Rose Garden of the White House in a last-minute statement. He was flanked by President Obama and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden. “I have concluded that [the window] has closed.”

I think it’s a wise move.  He had no campaign structure, he’s millions behind in fund-raising, and in terms of positions he’s not a lot different than Hillary Clinton.  Chances are he’d lose the nomination, and it would be a sad end to a long and admirable career as a senator and vice president.

One bark on “Biden Not Running

  1. What a relief. As far as I’m concerned (which is not at all) he had some strikes against him. I’m thinking of his cruelty to Anita Hill and his vote against the Brady Bill. But I really like him personally a lot despite his stumbles and I’m glad he won’t have to face the brutality of the coming war to elect a person who’s probably nuts to want the job at all.
