So Go Already

Former Sen. Jim Webb is planning to drop out of the Democratic race and run as an independent.

Webb’s campaign distributed an email to reporters that advertised a news conference Tuesday at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., with the subject line, “Jim Webb to consider independent run,” according to the reports.

Webb has consistently placed at the bottom of the polls throughout his campaign.

Webb began his political career as a Republican and served as secretary of the Navy in the Reagan administration. He served one term as U.S. senator, representing Virginia as a Democrat.

He’s been complaining that the debates are skewed toward Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders anyway, so harrumph.  Yeah, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that he sounds like a Republican who showed up at the wrong debate.

This is probably the last time we’re going to hear from him until he lands a gig selling reverse mortgages alongside Fred Thompson.
