We’re Morocco Bound

Donald Trump’s new ad — which would make Joseph Goebbels get out of the business — shows hordes of people rushing over the border to get to America.

Well, they’ve got a long way to rush.  The film clip, according to PolitiFact, is of people crossing the border in Morocco.

About halfway through the ad, a narrator says of Trump, “He’ll stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for.” Video footage shows dozens of people streaming across the border, as if they were ants fleeing an anthill.

The clear suggestion is that the footage is of the “southern border” between the United States and Mexico. But it’s not — it’s 5,000 miles away, in a small Spanish enclave on the mainland of Morocco.

Yes, that Morocco; the one where Casablanca is located.

Maybe they’re all trying to get to Rick’s Cafe Americian; everybody comes to Rick’s.  But they’d better do it before Capt. Renault is shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on there.  Or maybe they’ll run into Bob Hope and Bing Crosby.
