Primary Day

Florida is one of the states where they say the fortunes of several political careers will be determined today.  And after tomorrow, Marco Rubio will be touted as the leading candidate to run for governor, or, more likely, the pre-owned car sales manager at Norman Braman’s upscale dealership on Biscayne Boulevard.  (If you’re in Miami-Dade County, go here for voter information.)

Another one is my home state of Ohio, where if Gov. John Kasich loses to Trump, he will become the nominal first choice for V.P. and probably set the stage for his run in 2020.

Other states are Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and for Republicans only, the Northern Mariana Island caucus.

If you’re in any of those places, if you’re registered, vote.  No excuses.  But if you don’t because you don’t like any of the candidates, because you think it’s all rigged, or you think it won’t make any difference, and when it doesn’t turn out the way you wanted, I will expect you to shut up.

2 barks and woofs on “Primary Day

  1. My granddaughter taught me something. I was confused about the many unfamiliar names I’d be confronting on the ballot since we’ve lived in this district only a couple of years. She told me to go the the League of Women Voters website, punch in my address and find not only my voting place but those I’d expect to see on the ballot. Together with information from people I respect (like Sen. Sherrod Brown) and a note from the ODP head about a write-in candidate for Prosecutor, I blew through the ballot in a few seconds. It’s so important this year that no excuse such as I don’t know who to vote for down-ballot shouldn’t let you off the hook.

  2. We will see how Kasich does here in Ohio. I do not like his stance on unions or reproductive health care. That being said, he is the most reasonable man running for the Republicans. What an election year!
