Two years and two weeks, although….the company I work for was a quirky but genuinely good place to work, and then it got bought out. The new company is on a race to the bottom in every respect. I’m really wondering if I can hold out that long.
At 68 I’ve been retired once already; laid of during a really necessary RIF. But, after a year and a half they rehired me on a contract basis, half time. This with SS meant I was making as much as before but with better benefits (Medicare!) but lower costs to the company.
The ONE thing I learned is, YOU better figure out what you gonna do when you’re unwanted. I’ve had this reprieve for two years but still haven’t a clue.
Archaeology. Since you’re in South Florida perhaps something rediscovering the Calusa? http://www.thingscouldbeworse.org/home/digging-up-the-past-volunteer-archaeology-trips/
