I See What You Did There

President Obama said that Donald Trump is unfit to be president and called on Republicans to withdraw their endorsement of him.

“The question they have to ask themselves is: If you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?” Mr. Obama said. “What does this say about your party that this is your standard-bearer?”

Given the way the Republicans usually react to anything President Obama says — if he says black, they say white even if they agree with him — this will guarantee that the GOP leadership will double down on their support of their candidate and therefore go down with him instead of running for a lifeboat.

Well played, Mr. President.

5 barks and woofs on “I See What You Did There

  1. My Facebook feed is eerily quiet about Obama’s remark. My guess that their pretzel logic has tied them so tight as to cut off circulation.

(I keep my right winger friends on my FB feed just to see what bullshit they are peddling. I used to try bebunking with and other fact-checking sites, but they’ve now decreed those smear sites. Apparently truth has a liberal bias.)

    • Ah, they just needed time to regroup. We getting the “audacity of Obama – the most unfit and disastrous president in our lifetime” projectile vomit now. The Orcosphere is roiling.

  2. This morning on Morning Joe, the eponymous host said he actually suspects there’s been another Clinton conspiracy. He noted that before Trump declared he’d had a long phone talk with Bill Clinton, an old friend, who urged him to run for President. See? That’s why the Republicans are so up a creek with their candidate, damned if they dis-endorse him and double damned if they don’t and guaranteed to lose to Hillary in any case. Bill Clinton got them there.

    • I’ve heard the “Clintons behind Trump campaign” conspiracy most loudly from my BernieorBust friends. Damn, those Clintons have fingerprints everywhere.
