Historical Perspective

The last time the Chicago Cubs won the World Series, Theodore Roosevelt was the President of the United States, King Edward VII was on the throne in Great Britain, Kaiser Wilhelm II ruled Germany, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was very much alive as was Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, and my maternal grandmother was five years old.

5 barks and woofs on “Historical Perspective

  1. This may not be their year after all. 538 has the likelihood of them winning the World Series down from yesterday when they were favored. Being trounced last night 7 to 0 changed their outlook, sad to say. But as Yogi said, it’s never over ’til it’s over.

  2. Northsider (Chicago) here: It’s been fairly quiet the past few days (since the end of the playoffs), but I expect Wrigleyville to be up for grabs when the Series comes back to Chicago. In the meantime, you can’t walk down the street without running into some entity “flying the W.”
