It’s “Embrace A Dictator” Week

Trump throws a big hug around Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the guy who seized power in Egypt in a military coup:

“We agree on so many things,” Mr. Trump said as he sat beside Mr. Sisi in the Oval Office. “I just want to let everybody know in case there was any doubt that we are very much behind President el-Sisi. He’s done a fantastic job in a very difficult situation. We are very much behind Egypt and the people of Egypt. The United States has, believe me, backing, and we have strong backing.”

Yeah, who needs freedom and democracy when there are hotels to be built along the Nile?

2 barks and woofs on “It’s “Embrace A Dictator” Week

  1. A small but telling point is the handshake notably absent with Angela Merkel was there for all to see with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. I am not sure if it’s because he has issues with strong women or that he just likes dictators, or both.

  2. Both, of course. Always a man’s man. Meanwhile Trump’s ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley, has declared Al Sisi a war criminal. But she’s a girl. So take your choice.
