Today is officially the day your federal income tax return is due. That’s because April 15 was a Saturday and Monday is a holiday in Massachusetts, and as the Bay State goes, so goes America as far as filing goes.
I don’t mind paying taxes. You want to fly first class, you have to pay the fare (unless, of course, you’re a big corporation or stinking rich and then you get some shlub to pay it for you). As Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes noted, taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society. Some (ahem) are still learning that.
I did my taxes the day I got my W-2 and my refund was in the bank before Valentines Day. So there.
I started filing online back when and had my refunds within a week via direct deposit.
