My friend Rand reminded me that fifty years ago this song was number 1 on the charts.  I was a freshman at the University of Miami, living in Mahoney Hall PAC (pre-air conditioning).  The AM stations played the short version, but the FM’s played all eight-plus minutes.  Where were you?
