Happy Friday

Whoa, dude.  President Biden offered thousands of pardons to people convicted of simple marijuana possession by federal courts.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — President Biden announced major steps toward decriminalizing marijuana possession Thursday, offering mass pardons for anyone convicted of a federal crime for simply possessing the drug, and urging governors to do the same.

He also directed his administration to expedite a review of whether marijuana should continue to be listed as a Schedule I substance, a classification reserved for the most dangerous drugs, including heroin, LSD and ecstasy.

It’s high time we did that. [rimshot]

I have sworn off all sorts of chemical enhancements, including pot, but it’s way past time we got off the reefer madness mentality about something that is far less harmful or addictive than the legal stuff, and it will also take a huge step towards equalizing the treatment of the people who are in the joint, so to speak, for the simple crime of owning cannabis, a majority of whom are minorities.
