Why I Became A Liberal

Suzy Khimm at NBC found out why people become liberals according to the Heritage Foundation.

“Give up your economic freedom, give up your political freedom, and you will be rewarded with license,” said Heritage’s David Azerrad, describing the reigning philosophy of the left. “It’s all sex all the time. It’s not just the sex itself—it’s the permission to indulge.”

Liberals, said editor Bill Voegeli, want to create “the United States of Feeling Good About Ourselves.”

Yeah, I found out that talking about peace, equality, and saving the environment is the way to get laid.  “Ooh, baby, talk to me about those naughty Kyoto Protocols.”

7 barks and woofs on “Why I Became A Liberal

  1. I get amused every time some conservative talks about “what liberals think…”
I’m a liberal, most of my friends are liberal, & I have known many liberals. I’ve never known anyone who thought like that.

    • A lot of it is projection, especially about the sex. To quote the immortal BJ Hunnicut, their preoccupation with sex comes from a lack of occupation with sex. That and the idea that somewhere someone is having fun and it must be stopped.

  2. For a good laugh, read The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Cause of Political Madness by Lyle Rossiter, M.D. He relates everything to childhood trauma.

    • No, that theory’s already been taken to explain post-war American drama such as the works of Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, William Inge, Robert Anderson, Lanford Wilson, Sam Shepard, Edward Albee, and the later works of Eugene O’Neill. No backsies.

    • Sheesh. So we are to believe Republicans grow out of good childhoods? Considering what assholes they are as adults, I suddenly feel ever so much more about being “tenderized” into a liberal adulthood where I treat humans like humans.
