Something Beautiful

I think we need a little break from the news.

The chili pepper vanda is putting out some late spring/early summer blooms.

003We now return you to our regularly scheduled blogging.

4 barks and woofs on “Something Beautiful

  1. I have spent the day working in flower beds. Yours are very special. I can forget all the horrible stuff when I am digging in the dirt and praying that whatever I am planting comes up.

  2. Wow. Years ago an acquaintance gave us a Starfighter orchid, which we managed to keep alive for a couple of years. He manages a tropical exhibit at a near-by city museum, with a greenhouse just to propagate new stuff for the exhibit. He also does native “wild” orchids along the walking paths of the ground.

Now we only have a little orchid bought in the grocery store. It has tripled in size since we got it, and was very pretty when we bought it, but shows no signs of blooming again, in spite of how well the leaf growth is doing. I’ll keep watering it, it lives in the shower on a little windowsill.

Jealous of the tropical folks who can grow huge things like this outdoors!! Not so jealous of the heat/humidity of the tropical summers…
